The Wilmington University baseball threw the first punch in the opening round of the NCAA Division II East 1 Regional Tournament on Thursday, but NYIT fought back and held a 6-3 lead after the 4th inning. The WIldcats scored seven runs in the bottom of the ninth to force extras, but NYIT came out and scored three unearned runs in the top of the 10th to take the game, 10-7. Max Carney had three hits and two RBI for the Wildcats while Kendall Small had two hits with a two-run double in the ninth.
