Men’s Basketball Picked To Finish Third in CACC South Division as 2019-20 Preseason Coaches Poll is Announced

NEWA HAVEM, Conn. – For the second consecutive year, the Wilmington University men's basketball team was picked to finish third in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division, as the conference released the 2019-20 men's basketball Preseason Coaches Poll.

After finishing 12-17, 9-10 CACC last season and earning a trip to the postseason, the men earned 70 total points to earn the third place spot out of seven teams in the South Division.

Jefferson earned the top spot with a total of 90 points with 12 first place votes after winning the South Division title last season. Goldey-Beacom earned two first place votes for a total of 73 points to claim the second spot in the South, followed by the Wildcats who rounded out the top three.

Holy Family and USciences tied for fourth with 48 total points, as Georgian Court took the sixth spot with 33 points. Chestnut Hill rounds out the South with 21 points.

In the North Division, CACC reigning Champions, Dominican claimed the top spot with 11 first place votes for a total of 88 points. Bloomfield, who were the 2018-19 CACC Runners-Ups, claimed two first place votes out of 14 for the second spot in the North, as Caldwell picked up one first place vote for 66 points for the third spot.

The Golden Falcons of Felician took the No. 4 spot in the North with 57 points, followed by Post with 43 points in the sixth spot. Concordia and Nyack round out the final two spots in the North as the Chargers claimed 28 points, while the Warriors finished with 23 for the seventh spot.

The Wildcats open up the regular season the weekend of November 8-9 at the Bentley Tip-Off Classic, where they will face host team, Bentley before taking on St. Anselm. On Saturday, November 16 the men will have their home opener against Shippensburg at 2:00 p.m. at the Complex.
