 Wilmington Trio Earn All-Conference Honors

NEW CASTLE, DE -- Wilmington University is pleased to announce that Cody Holliday (Havre de Grace HS/Havre de Grace, MD), Joe Harris (Daniel Boone HS/Douglassville, PA), and Mike Godwin (A.I. DuPont HS/Hockessin, DE) have earned All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) baseball honors for their performances this past season.

Holliday, a senior outfielder, was named CACC Player of the Year and was a First Team All-Conference selection.  A first team award winner in 2008, he led the Wildcats in hitting (.366), hits (68), doubles (16), home runs (7), RBI (48), total bases (111), slugging percentage (.597), on-base percentage (.455), and stolen bases (12).  He was second on the team in runs (49), and walks (27).  Holliday leads the CACC in hits, RBI, doubles, and total bases, while ranking second in runs and home runs.  During the season, he had 21 multiple-hit games and 10 multiple-RBI games. 

Harris, a sophomore pitcher, earned Second Team All-Conference honors.  He posted a 4-5 record with a 3.41 earned run average.  Harris led the team in strikeouts (71), innings pitched (66), and wins.  He ranked fourth in the conference in strikeouts, and was 59th in the nation (Division II) in strikeouts per nine innings, averaging 9.49 per contest.   

Godwin, a freshman pitcher and catcher, earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.  He recorded a 3-1 record with a 2.29 earned run average.  Godwin held opponents to just a .214 batting average, and was second on the team in strikeouts (27).  Offensively, he hit .292 with 24 RBI and 21 runs scored.

This duo helped the Wildcats to a 15-12 mark in the CACC and an overall record of 24-27.  Wilmington qualified for the conference tournament and the third seeded Wildcats begin play on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 PM, when they take on the second-seeded Deacons of Bloomfield College.  The double-elimination, four-team tournament, will be hosted by Wilmington. Thursday's action will take place at Wilson Field, while games on Friday and Saturday are at Frawley Stadium, home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks.   The winner receives an automatic berth to the NCAA East Regional tournament.
