WATERBURY, Conn. - - Post claimed an 81-53 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over the Wilmington University women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon inside the Drubner Center.
Emma Brown secured her seventh double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds, but Post (10-12, 7-9 CACC) used a 12-0 run in the first quarter to gain control. The Eagles were able to turn 31 Wilmington turnovers into 26 points at the other end.
After TyKeisha Hill made the first shot of the game for the Wildcats, Post went on a 12-0 run, going 4-for-5 from the floor including three three-pointers. They also scored the final six points of the first quarter, taking a 26-9 lead into the second frame.
Emma Brown scored nine of the 10 points in a 10-6 run in the second quarter for the Wildcats, bringing the visitors to within 36-19. Post went on a 9-1 run towards the end of the half and Post was doubling up the Wildcats, 46-23, at the break.
Emma Brown scored the Wildcats' first seven points of the third quarter, getting up to 17 points in the game. The Eagles scored the final five points of the quarter to take a 62-32 lead into the fourth.
The Wildcats won the fourth quarter, 21-19, getting nine points from Armani Bell-Jackson. Seven different Wildcats scored in the quarter, with Bene Butler hitting a three pointer and Trinity Fortune-Medine, Leanna Masseus, and Sparkle Leigh all hitting shots from the floor. Brown and Hill put in free throws as well for the Wildcats.
Emma Brown's 10 rebounds were split evenly between the offensive and defensive ends of the floor while she shot 6-of-9 from the floor and 6-of-9 from the foul line. Armani Bell-Jackson shot 5-for-15 with two three-pointers for 15 points off the bench. TyKeisha Hill grabbed six rebounds while Reynah Rattliff dished out four assists with two steals.
The Wildcats return home for their next contest, hosting CACC leading Holy Family on Tuesday night. The women start the CACC doubleheader at 6:00 p.m. in the WU Athletics Complex.
