GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - - The East Region's top seed Adelphi scored the first seven goals in route to a 16-6 victory over the No. 8 seed Wilmington University men's lacrosse team in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at Motamed Field.

Wilmington closes its 2026 season with a 12-5 record, reaching the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. Adelphi, who's won back-to-back NCAA DII National Championships, advances to the Quarterfinal Round to take on No. 4 Pace.

Sunday was won at the face-off spot, as the Panthers (17-0) won 18-of-25 in the game, including all five in the first quarter and 11-of-12 in the first half. Adelphi led in shots, 10-4, in the first quarter, scoring four goals. The Panthers scored the first three goals of the second quarter as well, and then Josh Weston put the Wildcats on the board with 5:27 left in the half. Andrew Dzubak made it back-to-back goals for the Wildcats, but the Panthers answered with back-to-back goals in the final 26 seconds, taking a 9-2 lead at the half.

Adelphi scored the first three goals of the third quarter, making it a 5-0 run to take a 12-2 lead. Andrew Dzubak stopped the run with a goal, but Adelphi ended the third quarter with another goal, going into the fourth quarter leading 13-3.

The Panthers continued to find the back of the net, scoring the first three goals of the quarter, taking their largest lead of the game, 16-3, with 9:32 to play. Josh West, Ian Betts, and Andrew Dzubak then all scored for the Wildcats to close out the game, but it was too little too late, as the Wildcats could only close to within 16-6.

Andrew Dzubak scored three goals while adding two ground balls. Josh Weston scored two goals with an assist, adding two ground balls as well. Quinn Tracy had a caused turnover and four ground balls while Brendan Macdonell led with two caused turnovers. Daniel Flynn finished with 12 saves.
