WILMINGTON, Del. - - The Wilmington University men's soccer team wrapped up its regular season with a 3-1 victory at Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday night at Abessinio Stadium, securing the No. 3 seed and a home game in the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 10-3-4 overall and 5-2-3 in CACC play for 18 points, finishing third in the standings. They will host either Felician or Georgian Court in the CACC Tournament on Sunday at the WU Athletics Complex, depending on Thursday's outcome of the Holy Family and Georgian Court matchup.

On Wednesday, the Wildcats started early against their crosstown rivals, scoring in the second minute of play. Jacques Mason took a long pass down the left wing and headed for the endline. He played a low cross to the penalty spot and Alex Tarway was there to one-time it home for his seventh goal of the year.

Alex Tarway was then fouled in the corner of the penalty box in the 16th minute, and Theo Faillon scored his fourth penalty of the year for his CACC leading 13th goal and the 2-0 lead.

The Lightning struck early to start the second half, getting a penalty kick of their own in the 48th minute to cut the deficit in half.

The Wildcats put the game away in the 73rd minute though, as Michiharu Takanashi scored his eighth of the year. Off a Goldey-Beacom punt, the Wildcats quickly gained control with Jhamaleek Porter on the left wing.  He looped a ball over the back line for Takanashi and he one-timed it home from atop the 18-yard box, just underneath the crossbar for the 3-1 lead.

The Wildcats led in shots, 9-2, including on goal, 7-2. Emil Lollike made one save in goal for the win.

Sunday's First Round Game will be hosted at the WU Athletics Complex with the opening whistle set for 12:00 p.m.
