Nick Classie Named to 2025 ABCA East Region All-Defensive Team

NEWARK, Del. - - Senior catcher Nick Classie has been recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) for his work behind the plate in 2025, being named to the ABCA East Region All-Defensive Team.

Nick Classie is one of four Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference members on the 2025 ABCA East Region All-Defensive Team, becoming the seventh Wilmington recipient (sixth student-athlete) of the award. Classie joins Jordan Oncay (2012), Josh Hampton (2013 and 2014), Jordan Johnson (2013), Frank Samluk (2014), and Rocky Ferrier (2017) as Wildcats who made the All-Defensive Team.

Classie anchored the pitching staff this season by catching in 45 of the team's 59 games, with career highs of a .318 average, six doubles, four homers, and 25 RBI. He set a new Wilmington single-season record by throwing out 22 would-be base stealers, besting Matt Lopes' season of 2013 in which he threw out 20 runners. Classie is now third all-time in program history with 40 outs on the bases.

Nick Classie was also named a Second Team All-Region catcher by the ABCA earlier this spring.
