Wildcats Jump to No. 1 in Latest NCBWA East Region Poll

NEWARK, Del. - - Another 3-1 weekend has propelled the Wilmington University baseball team to the top of this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region Poll.

The Wildcats are now 6-2 overall, earning five first-place votes and 85 points overall. They jumped up two spots to No. 1 this week.

This past weekend, the Wildcats defeated Pitt.-Johnstown, 5-4, on Friday, followed by a split with West Chester on Saturday. The weekend in Cary, North Carolina, ended with a walk off homer from Cam Trego in the bottom of the ninth inning, 4-3.

The Wildcats jumped Southern New Hampshire and Felician to take over the top spot. Southern New Hampshire remains at No. 2 while Felician fell to No. 3 this week.

Wilmington is now off to Florida, where they will play five games this week against nonregional opponents. The week begins on Wednesday morning with a game against Sioux Falls in Winter Haven, Florida. First pitch is at 10:00 a.m.
