WATERBURY, Conn. - - Post used a six-run bottom of the first to defeat the Wilmington University baseball team, 14-4, in eight innings, winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference series on Sunday at Municipal Stadium.

It's the first CACC series loss for the Wildcats this season, as they are in second place with a 17-6 conference record. They are now 25-12 overall. Post hangs onto the fourth spot in the CACC with a 14-9 record, moving to 20-19 overall.

The Eagles scored 13 runs in their first five at bats, adding a two-run second inning and a three-run fourth inning. Post scored six runs on five hits in the first, adding a two-out, two-run single in the second.

Chase Fleming got the Wildcats on the board with a two-out infield single and then Brian Klumpp tacked on two more with a two-run single, bringing the Wildcats to within 8-3.

Post added an RBI single in the bottom of the third and then scored three more in the fourth on only one hit, being aided by four walks and a hit-by-pitch.

The Wildcats had a chance to get back into the game in the top of the fifth, loading the bases with only one out. But the Eagles got out of the jam unscathed, picking up a strikeout and a fly ball to end the inning.

The Wildcats loaded the bases again in the top of the eighth inning with singles from Zach Rosenzweig, Brayden Hostetter, and Ben Cordrey, but again couldn't scratch a run across.

Post then walked-off with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth, enforcing the mercy rule, 14-4.

Brayden Hostetter went 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored while Zach Frame and Chase Fleming each had two hits for the Wildcats. Fleming and Klumpp each had two RBI.

The Wildcats head to Lincoln on Tuesday to conclude their CACC series with the Lions. The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
