ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - - Dominican scored the tying run in the bottom of the ninth and then won it in the bottom of the 10th, salvaging game three against the Wilmington University baseball team, 6-5, on Monday night at Clover Stadium.

The Wildcats (29-13, 20-7 CACC) battled back from an early 4-0 lead and held a 5-4 lead from the sixth inning. Dominican (16-26, 12-15 CACC) loaded the bases in the ninth and scored a run on a groundout and then loaded the bases again in the 10th, getting a walk to win it, 6-5.

Dominican raced out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first on three hits. Two walks and a double scored the first run and then a three-run homer made it 4-0.

The Wildcats struck right back however, scoring four runs in the top of the second with only one hit. Brett Walmsley led off the frame with a single and then an error and a walk loaded the bases. Four straight ground balls brought in four runs, reaching on fielder's choices and errors.

The game remained tied until the top of the sixth. Brett Walmsley started the inning once again with a single and then was standing on third with two outs. Justin Hernandez then looped one into left for the go-ahead RBI, 6-5.

The bats fell silent from there though, only getting one baserunner in their next three at-bats.

A one-out single and back-to-back walks loaded the bases for the Chargers in the bottom of the ninth. Garrett Quinn got a ground to third, but too soft to turn two, allowing the game-tying run to score. He then struck out the final batter, leaving two on, and forcing extra innings.

Cam Trego was standing on second with one out in the 10th, but a ground out and a strikeout saw Dominican escape the 10th unscathed.

The Chargers then got three straight singles to start the 10th before a walk ended the contest, 6-5.

Tyler Pirrung went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI while Brett Walmsley went 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Justin Hernandez led with two RBI.

Scott Borgmann went 6.2 innings of relief with seven punchouts and just a run on two hits and five walks. Garrett Quinn went the next two innings, striking out two and allowing a run on one hit and two walks.

The Wildcats' busy week continues with their final nonconference game of the season on Tuesday. They head to Millersville for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
