NEWARK, Del. - - Six Wilmington University baseball student-athletes have been named All-Region between the three postseason organizations, leading the Wildcats to a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championship and East Region appearance in 2026.
The postseason awards are highlighted by Scott Borgmann being named the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) East Region Pitcher of the Year, as well as joining Tyler Pirrung as being unanimous First Team All-Region across the three organizations. Brett Walmsley, Chase Fleming, Dylan Potero, and Cam Trego were also recognized as All-Region for their 2026 seasons.
Scott Borgmann (Parkton, Md.) becomes the second East Region Pitcher of the Year in program history, joining David Hatt who earned the 2013 award by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). The CACC Pitcher of the Year made 20 appearances out of the pen for the Wildcats, going 7-1 with seven saves on the season. He struck out 85 batters with only 18 walks, going for a 1.65 earned run average in 60 innings. He ranks third in NCAA Division II in ERA among qualified pitchers and is sixth in the country in striking out 12.75 batters per nine innings. His 1.00 WHIP is also seventh best in NCAA DII.
Tyler Pirrung (Newark, Del.) was another unanimous First Team All-Region performer across all three organizations. The senior second baseman hit .387 on the season with 74 hits, leading the team with 18 doubles and 63 runs scored. He had a slash line of .387/.485/.592 for a 1.077 OPS, ranking ninth in the CACC. He set a Wilmington program record with 41 stolen bases on the season, ranking eighth overall in the country. He is the program's all-time leader with 89 stolen bases and 157 runs scored. He is now a three-time First Team All-Region selection in his career.
Chase Fleming (Bear, Del.) was named to the First Team utility pitcher by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and the D2CCA. He is also a Second Team All-Region performer according to the NCBWA. The two-way player batted .376 while ranking 13th in the CACC with a 1.026 OPS. He was third on the team with 50 RBI, collecting 10 doubles, two triples, and four homers. On the mound, the junior went 7-1 in 13 appearances, finishing tied for second in the CACC with 81 strikeouts and 18th in NCAA DII in averaging 11.45 strikeouts per nine innings. Fleming had a 3.11 ERA in 63.2 innings pitched.
Freshman pitcher Dylan Potero (Woolwich, N.J.) was mentioned on all three All-Region teams as well, earning First Team nods by the D2CCA and NCBWA. He is a Second Team All-Region pitcher according to the ABCA. In his first collegiate season, Potero went 6-2 in 18 appearances (10 starts) and 55.1 innings pitched. He stepped it up in conference play this year, leading the CACC with a 1.35 ERA, a 1.74 opponents' batting average, five wins, and only eight runs allowed against CACC opponents.
Brett Walmsley (Newark, Del.) was a First Team honoree by the ABCA and earned a pair of Second Team honors by the D2CCA and the NCBWA as a catcher. His .418 batting average is the second best in a single season in the Wildcats' NCAA era, going 59-for-141 with 10 doubles, two triples, and eight homers. He was third in the CACC with a .688 slugging percentage and fourth overall with a 1.176 OPS. He's third on the team with 41 runs scored and fourth with 45 RBI. He hit a walk-off, three-run homer in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Goldey-Beacom.
Cam Trego (Coatesville, Pa.) was voted a Second Team All-Region outfielder by the ABCA. The senior led the team and was fifth in the CACC with 12 homers. He had a slash line of .365/.421/.675, finishing eighth in the CACC with a 1.096 OPS. The 12 homers is third most in a single season in WilmU's NCAA era. Trego's six triples rank ninth in NCAA Division II this season, the third most in a single season for the Wildcats. Trego led the team with 135 total bases on the season, adding 16 stolen bases.
Saint Anselm's George Slauson was the unanimous East Region Player of the Year while each organization voted a different student-athlete as the East Region Pitcher of the Year. Molloy's James Sill was named the ABCA's East Region Pitcher of the Year while Adelphi's John Carver was named the NCBWA's East Region Pitcher of the Year. Molloy's Joe Fucarino was voted the NCBWA East Region Coach of the Year as well.
First Team honorees are automatically nominated for All-American status for their respective organizations.
