Three Wildcats Earn Top Baseball Honors; Scott Borgmann Fourth Consensus All-American

NEWARK, Del. - - Wilmington University baseball senior Scott Borgmann leads a trio of student-athletes who have been named All-American, as three organizations have announced their highest honors for the 2026 season.

Scott Borgmann is a consensus All-American, being named by all three organizations (Division II Conference Commissioners Association, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, and American Baseball Coaches Association). Chase Fleming is a First Team All-American Utility Pitcher by the D2CCA while Tyler Pirrung in an All-American Honorable Mention by the D2CCA as well.

Scott Borgmann (Parkton, Md.) highest accolade came from the ABCA, earning First Team All-American accolades as a reliever. He was a Third Team All-American reliever by both the D2CCA and the NCBWA as well. He is the fourth Wildcat to earn consensus All-American honors by all three organizations, joining Tyler Fries (2015), Sam Goines (2015), and Eddie Nevins (2019). He is just the second Wildcat in the NCAA era to be named a First Team All-American by the coaches (ABCA), joining Jason Rust from 2007.

The D2CCA and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Pitcher of the Year, Borgmann made 20 appearances out of the pen for the Wildcats, going 7-1 with seven saves on the season. He struck out 85 batters with only 18 walks, going for a 1.65 earned run average in 60 innings. He ranks third in NCAA Division II in ERA among qualified pitchers and is sixth in the country in striking out 12.75 batters per nine innings. His 1.00 WHIP is also seventh best in NCAA DII.

Chase Fleming (Bear, Del.) becomes the sixth First Team All-American (including Borgmann) in the program's NCAA era, earning First Team Utility Pitcher by the D2CCA. The two-way player batted .376 while ranking 13th in the CACC with a 1.026 OPS. He was third on the team with 50 RBI, collecting 10 doubles, two triples, and four homers. On the mound, the junior went 7-1 in 13 appearances, finishing tied for second in the CACC with 81 strikeouts and 18th in NCAA DII in averaging 11.45 strikeouts per nine innings. Fleming had a 3.11 ERA in 63.2 innings pitched.

Tyler Pirrung (Newark, Del.) was a consensus First Team All-Region performer and now adds an Honorable Mention All-American honoree to his name. The senior second baseman hit .387 on the season with 74 hits, leading the team with 18 doubles and 63 runs scored. He had a slash line of .387/.485/.592 for a 1.077 OPS, ranking ninth in the CACC. He set a Wilmington program record with 41 stolen bases on the season, ranking eighth overall in the country. He is the program's all-time leader with 89 stolen bases and 157 runs scored. He is now a three-time First Team All-Region selection in his career.

The trio helped lead the Wildcats to their 11th CACC Tournament Championships this spring, finishing 41-17 overall, falling in the NCAA DII East Region 1 Tournament Championship game.
