YORK, Pa. - - Wilmington University baseball All-American Scott Borgmann has teamed with fellow WilmU standouts in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, being signed by the York Revolution.
The most recent Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year, Borgmann joins former two-time CACC Pitcher of the Year and two-time All-American Joe Harris with the Revolution, as Harris is the team's Pitching Coach. Ryan Sandberg, the 2022 CACC Pitcher of the Year, is a current member of the Long Island Ducks in the same league.
As of today, Borgmann has appeared in three games, earning his first professional win on Sunday, June 7, against the Charleston Dirty Birds with 3.1 scoreless innings of relief. He has not allowed an earned run in 8.1 innings to begin his pro career.
From the ALPB website, the league was established in 1998. The Atlantic League is Major League Baseball's first Professional Partner League, a proven gateway for players to reach the major leagues, and a recognized leader in baseball innovation. The ALPB has sent more than 1,400 players to MLB organizations while welcoming over 47 million fans to its 10 family-friendly ballparks stretching from New York to North Carolina.
The Atlantic League represents the highest level of professional baseball outside of Major League Baseball. Its players are seasoned professionals who have advanced through the developmental levels of A, AA, and AAA baseball. More than 40 percent of Atlantic League players have Major League service time. Like MLB clubs, Atlantic League teams pay their players to compete and win, not to apprentice within a developmental system.
