NEWARK, Del. - - Wilmington University baseball standouts Chase Fleming and Scott Borgmann earned top honors by another organization for their outstanding 2026 seasons, being named D2 Baseball's Two-Way Player and Reliever of the Year, respectively, as well as First Team All-Americans.
It is the second All-American honor for Chase Fleming, as he was also a First Team All-American by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA). Scott Borgmann was a consensus All-American, earning First Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), and a Third Team All-American by the D2CCA and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
Chase Fleming (Bear, Del.) became the sixth First Team All-American (including Borgmann) in the program's NCAA era, earning First Team Utility Pitcher by the D2CCA as well. The two-way player batted .376 while ranking 13th in the CACC with a 1.026 OPS. He was third on the team with 50 RBI, collecting 10 doubles, two triples, and four homers. On the mound, the junior went 7-1 in 13 appearances, finishing tied for second in the CACC with 81 strikeouts and 18th in NCAA DII in averaging 11.45 strikeouts per nine innings. Fleming had a 3.11 ERA in 63.2 innings pitched.
Scott Borgmann (Parkton, Md.), the D2CCA East Region and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Pitcher of the Year, made 20 appearances out of the pen for the Wildcats, going 7-1 with seven saves on the season. He struck out 85 batters with only 18 walks, going for a 1.65 earned run average in 60 innings. He ranks third in NCAA Division II in ERA among qualified pitchers and is sixth in the country in striking out 12.75 batters per nine innings. His 1.00 WHIP is also the seventh-best in NCAA DII.
The duo helped lead the Wildcats to their 11th CACC Tournament Championships this spring, finishing 41-17 overall, falling in the NCAA DII East Region 1 Tournament Championship game. It is just the third time in the program's NCAA era that the Wildcats won 40 or more games in a season (2013 and 2019).
