NEWARK, Del. - - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its 2026 Academic All-America Baseball Teams, and two Wilmington University student-athletes were recognized as the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Scott Borgmann (Parkton, Md.) and Tyler Pirrung (Newark, Del.) became the 12th and 13th Wilmington student-athletes to earn the top academic honor, as Borgmann was voted to the First Team and Pirrung to the Third Team.

Scott Borgmann was a consensus All-American as well as the D2 Baseball Reliever of the Year this season for the Wildcats, finishing 7-1 with seven saves this year, collecting a 1.71 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP. He was named the D2CCA East Region and the CACC Pitcher of the Year. He is carrying a 3.81 graduate grade point average, going for his MSM in sports management.

Tyler Pirrung was the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Year and earned an Honorable Mention All-American nod as well. He batted .387 with 74 hits this year, going for 18 doubles, three triples, and five homers, knocking in 54 runners while scoring 63 more. He set an NCAA program record with 41 stolen bases this year. He graduated with a 3.80 cumulative grade point average this spring, earning his degree in business management.

Borgmann and Pirrung are the first Wilmington baseball student-athletes to be named CSC Academic All-America, joining 11 other Wildcats since the first in 2011. Men's Soccer leads Wilmington with seven student-athletes being named CSC Academic All-America eight times. Borgmann joins softball's Katie (Warrington) Hugelmeyer (2013) and men's soccer's Shawn Genus (2021) as the only other First Team Academic All-Americans.
