Sacha Brown and Wilmington Golf Lead CACC Championships After Two Rounds

WILMINGTON, Del. - - Sacha Brown and the Wilmington University golf team sit atop the standings after the first two rounds of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship on Monday, playing 36 holes at the White Clay Creek Country Club.

Sacha Brown (Hertfordshire, England) is the only student-athlete to shoot under par in the opening two rounds, leading by two strokes with a 72-71 for a 143 (-1). He helped lead the Wildcats to a tie for first place in the team standings as well, as the Wildcats posted scores of 298-308 for a 606 (+30) to be all square with Goldey-Beacom. The Wildcats and Lightning are five strokes ahead of Dominican in third place.

Both Sacha Brown and Noah Wallace led the Wildcats in the first round with a 72 (E). Brown posted four birdies and four bogeys in the opening round while Wallace finished with three birdies and three bogeys in his round. Pablo Quintero fought back from a double bogey on his opening hole to shoot five birdies to finish with a 74 (+2). Ryan Heenan was the final counting score for the Wildcats in the first round with an 80 (+8), highlighted by a chip in eagle on hole 18.

Starting on hole six, Brown went birdie, bogey, birdie on holes 10, 11, and 12, respectively, to get to one-under par. Eight pars followed and then Brown birdied the par five third to get to two-under, but a bogey on his last two holes settled his score at 71 (-1).

Noah Wallace's second round got off to a slow start, but back-to-back birdies on hole 8 and 9 brought him back to one-over. Another birdie on the par four second brought his score to three-over par, but another bogey on his final hole of the day settled his score on 76 (+4) for the second round.

Pablo Quintero posted a pair of birdies on his second round, finishing with an 80 (+8) while Ryan Heenan finished with an 81 (+9) to close out the scoring for the Wildcats.

Dominican's Alexander Lundvall is in second place with a two-round score of 74-71 for a 145 (+1).

The Wildcats will be in the final pairings for the final round on Tuesday, beginning to tee-off at 10:10 a.m. on the first hole.
