FAIRVIEW, Pa. - - The Wilmington University golf team wrapped up its regular season on Tuesday at the Atlantic/East Preview, finishing in 12th place with rounds of 315-308 for a 623 (+47), at the site in which the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional will be played.
The Wildcats moved up three spots to 12th with a second-round 308 (+20) on Tuesday, finishing 12th of 21 teams at the Whispering Woods Golf Club.
Noah Wallace moved up 36 spots to finish in a tie for 10th place with a 72 (E) on Tuesday. HE finished with a 77-72 for a 149 (+5). In the first round, Wallace had three birdies, including one on his final hole, the par five third to get to 77. In the second round, he started with a double bogey on the par four 13th, but then recovered with three straight birdies to get to one-under par. A birdie on the par three second brought him to even before another birdie on the par five 12th ended his round at even par.
Pablo Quintero moved up 14 spots to a tie for 32nd overall with a second-round 76 (+4). He finished the tournament with a 77-76 for a 153 (+9). He posted three birdies in the first round, but a double bogey on his final hole set him back to a 77. On Tuesday, he started with a birdie on the par four 13th and then got to one-under again with a birdie on the par five third.
Josh Freeman moved up 12 spots to a tie for 58th overall with a second round 78 (+6). He posted rounds of 79-78 for a 157 (+13). He had back-to-back birdies on holes two and three in the first round to get down to seven-over. On Tuesday, he put in a birdie on the par four 16th and collected 13 pars as well.
Blake Ramirez moved up five spots with a second-round score of 82 (+10). He finished in a tie for 94th overall with identical rounds of 82-82 for a 164 (+20). He had a birdie on the par four 17th in the first round.
Sacha Brown rounded out the Wildcats on the course in 102nd place overall, moving up three spots in the second round. He posted rounds of 84-82 for a 166 (+22). His tournament started with birdie on the par four fifth and he also had a birdie in the second round on the par four fourth.
West Liberty's Brogan Bennett and Davis & Elkins Aidan Talent won the tournament with a 141 (-3). Gannon and Davis & Elkins finished the tournament with a 591 (+5) each. Gannon defeated Davis & Elkins on in a playoff on hole 18 to take the crown.
The Wildcats are ranked No. 3 in the latest NCAA Division II East Region Rankings and will learn their fate on April 25 when the NCAA announces the 20 participants for the upcoming NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional.
