Wildcats Shoot Rounds of 300 and 298; Tied for 10th at The Griffin Invitational

PETERSBURG, Va. - - Among a highly competitive field, the Wilmington University golf team posted rounds of 300 and 298 to sit in a tie for 10th overall at The Griffin Invitational with a 598 (+22) on the 7,064-yard, par 72 course at the Country Club of Petersburg.

Palm Beach Atlantic leads the tournament hosted by Saint Leo, shooting under par in each round and holding a 565 (-11) after the two rounds. Catawba is in second place overall going for a 570 (-6). They are the only two teams under par after two rounds. 

Sophomore Noah Wallace moved up nine spots with a 68 (-4) in the second round, shooting a 141 (-3). Wallace got off to a slow start in the first round, finding himself three over after seven holes. But he birdied holes 14, 17, and one to get back to one-over par for the round. He was two-over after three holes in round two as well, but then collected six birdies and nine pars the rest of the way, going for a 68 (-4). He is in seventh place after two rounds. 

Will Finnerty and Sebastian Ramos are in a tie for 55th overall, shooting a 152 (+8) through two rounds. Finnerty shot a 76-76 for his 152 (+8), posting three birdies in the first round and one more in the second. Ramos shot rounds of 73-79 for his 152 (+8), posting five birdies in the first round and two more in the second. 

Josh Freeman moved up four spots with a second round 75 (+3) and is in a tie for 61st overall after a two-round 153 (+9). He had three birdies and then backed it up with five birdies in the second round. 

Keegan Snyder rounded out the Wildcats' team on the course with an 82-84 for a 166 (+22). He had two birdies in the second round. 

Playing as an individual, James DeRocini is in 79th after two rounds, shooting rounds of 81 and 78 for a 159 (+15). He had a birdie in each round on Monday. 

Eckerd's Reggie Fear moved up five spots into first place with a 67 (-5) in the second round on Monday. He leads by one stroke with a 138 (-6). Palm Beach Atlantic's Nicholas Estrada and Catawba's Ilia Antoniadis are in a tie for second with scores of 139 (-5). 

The third and final round is set for Tuesday in Petersburg, Virginia.
