Noah Wallace Wins Fifth Playoff Hole to Capture Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship; Wildcats Place Sixth To Close Fall Schedule

WEST ORANGE, N.J. - - On the fifth playoff hole of the afternoon, Wilmington University golf sophomore Noah Wallace defeated Seton Hall's Luke Nolan to win the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship on Tuesday, leading the Wildcats to a sixth-place finish in the final tournament of the fall season.

The Wildcats shot scores of 305 and 315 to finish with a 620 (+60) in the two-day tournament at the Montclair Golf Club.

The Wildcats were led by Noah Wallace's second consecutive tournament victory, as the 37th ranked player in NCAA DII posted rounds of 72-74 for a 146 (+6). He finished tied with Seton Hall's Luke Nolan after 36 holes and needed five playoff holes to finally find a winner. Wallace is coming off an individual championship at the CACC Championship as well.

On Monday, Wallace found himself four-over par after his opening 10 holes. But he bounced back with birdies on the par four fourth and the par three seventh to finish the round at 72 (+2). On Tuesday, Wallace was one-under par after a birdie on the par five 10th, but tripped up with three consecutive bogeys on 16, 17 and 18. He finished Tuesday with 12 pars, five bogeys, and a birdie for a 74 (+4).

Josh Freeman moved up seven spots on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for 13th overall with rounds of 76-76 for 152 (+12). Freeman finished tied for third in the tournament with six total birdies, four coming in the first round. In the second round, her had back-to-back birdies to get back to even par after his sixth hole, finishing with another 76 (+6) for a 152 (+12).

Will Finnerty moved up three spots into 25th with his round on Tuesday, posting rounds of 77 and 80 for a 157 (+17). Finnerty finished tied for third on all par three holes in the tournament, averaging 3.25 strokes per par three, finishing two-over for the tournament.

Keegan Snyder and Sebastian Ramos each finished in a tie for 57th with total scores of 167 (+27). Keegan Snyder went with rounds of 82-85, finishing with two birdies in the first round. He was tied for 19th on all par three holes, finishing at five-over par. Ramos scored rounds of 80-87 for his 167. Ramos finished tied for 30th overall with 17 pars in the two rounds.

The Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship wraps up the fall season for the Wildcats. With the CACC Championship title, they earned the CACC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional Championship in May. They will restart competition in the spring to prepare for more postseason play.
