Golf Starts Spring Schedule With Fourth Place Finish at Saint Anselm Florida Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. - - The Wilmington University golf team kicked off its 2026 spring season with a fourth-place finish at the Saint Anselm Florida Invitational, hosted at the Eagle Creek Golf Club outside Orlando.

 The Wildcats posted rounds of 299 (+11) and 305 (+17) for a 604 (+28) to place fourth overall. Adelphi led wire-to-wire, posting scores of 279 and 286 for a 565 (-11) to win the tournament.

Noah Wallace was in a tie for fourth overall after the first round on Monday, shooting a 71 (-1). He had three birdies in the first round, with his birdie on the par five 16th to get him to one-under. He shot a 74 (+2) in the second round to finish in a tie for sixth overall. He started his Tuesday with a birdie on the first hole. He collected another birdie on the par five 13th to get to one-over on the day before finishing with a 74 (+2) for a 145 (+1) total.

Sebastian Ramos finished in a tie for ninth overall, posting rounds of 72 (E) and 75 (+3) for a 147 (+3). He had two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine on Monday, finishing his round with 12 consecutive pars for his 72. He also posted two birdies on the back nine par fives on Tuesday, shooting a 75 (+3), to finish in a tie for ninth overall.

Will Finnerty shot a 154 (+10) for the tournament shooting identical rounds of 77 (+5). He started his tournament on hole 18 with a birdie before also producing a birdie on the par five fourth hole. On Tuesday, he birdied the par five fourth again on his way to his 77.

Ryan Heenan finished in a tie for 31st place with a 158 (+14), shooting identical rounds of 79 (+7). He collected two birdies in Tuesday's round.

Josh Freeman shot rounds of 81 (+9) and 79 (+7) for a 160 (+16), placing in a tie for 37th overall. He collected three birdies in the tournament, two coming in the second round.

Playing as an individual, James DeRocini finished 19th overall, posting rounds of 74 (+2) and 77 (+5) for a 151 (+7). He started with a birdie on the par five 16th and then hit another birdie on the par three 11th to get back to one-over par on Monday before finishing with his 74 (+2). On Tuesday, he started with a birdie, and then also birdied the par four ninth for his fourth birdie of the tournament.

Adelphi's Zeus Sara and Johnny Solari each posted scores of 139 (-5) to be named Co-Champions of the tournament.

The Wildcats remain in Florida for their next tournament, competing in the Shark Invitational hosted by Nova Southeastern starting on Monday, March 23.
