FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - - Josh Freeman and Sebastian Ramos shot rounds of 69 (-2) to lead the Wilmington University golf team at the 2026 Shark Invitational hosted by Nova Southeastern at the Grande Oaks Golf Club earlier this week.
The Wildcats finished in 15th place, posting rounds of 299 (+15), 294 (+10), and 303 (+19) for a three-round score of 896 (+44). Fourth ranked Florida Southern won the tournament with an 831 (-21).
Sebastian Ramos led the Wildcats with a tie for 55th place finish, shooting rounds of 73 (+2), 79 (+8), and 69 (-2) for a 221 (+8). He totaled seven birdies in the tournament, with a week's high three in his third round 69 (-2). Starting on hole 17, he birdied the par four 18th, the par four fourth, and the par 3 11th to get to three-under. His only blemish on the round was a bogey on 14. He collected 14 pars in the round to shoot his 69 (-2).
Josh Freeman finished in a tie for 69th overall, posting round o 77 (+6), 69 (-2), and 80 (+9) fo a 226 (+13). He also collected seven birdies in the tournament, having hi best round in the afternoon on day one. He started on the 13th hole with a birdie, and then birdied the par 5 15th and par 5 eighth to get to three under. Just a bogey on the par three 11th set him back, finishing with his 69 (-2).
Noah Wallace tied Freeman in 69th overall with a 26 (+13), shooting rounds of 76 (+5), 73 (+2), and 77 (+6) to get there. He posted six birdies in the three rounds, with three coming in the first round. He had back-to-back birdies in the first round to get back to three-over, but then finished his round with back-to-back bogeys to finish with a 76 (+5). He had two birdies, four bogeys and 12 pars in his second round 73 (+2), his best round of the tournament.
James DeRocini placed 77th overall, shooting a 229 (+16) in the three rounds. He shots rounds of 74 (+3), 78 (+7), and 77 (+6) for his 229. He posted six birdies in the tournament, with four of them coming in the first round. He birdied his first two holes of the tournament and then got back to even with a birdie on the par three 17th. He also had two birdies in the third round on Tuesday.
Will Finnerty placed 83rd overall at the Shark Invitational, posting rounds of 67 (+5), 74 (+3), and 83 (+12) for a 233 (+20). He finished with five birdies in the tournament, four of which came on the first day. He started the second round with back-to-back birdies, finishing the round with 13 pars as well.
Florida Southern's Colton Swartz, ranked No. 50 in NCAA DII, won the tournament by posting scores of 66 (-5), 67 (-4), and 69 (-2) for a 202 (-11).
The Wildcats come halfway home for their next tournament, making a stop in Goldsboro, North Carolina, to play a tournament hosted by Mount Olive. The Trojan Open will begin on Monday, March 30, at the Walnut Creek Country Club.
