WEST CHESTER, Pa. - - The Wilmington University golf team competed in its final tournament of the regular season, finishing in 11th place at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational hosted by West Chester University at the Penn Oaks Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
The Wildcats posted a 321 (+41) first round on Monday afternoon and followed it up with a 317 (+37) on Tuesday for a 638 (+78). Lafayette College won the tournament with rounds of 295 (+15)-306 (+26) for a 601 (+41), defeating Rifer by four strokes.
Sophomore Noah Wallace finished 14th overall with a 74 (+4) and a 79 (+9) on the par-70 course. He had 14 pars and four bogeys on Monday before sliding six spots to 14th overall with a 79 (+9) after Tuesday's round.
Will Finnerty moved up eight spots on Tuesday to finish in 47th place overall. He shot rounds of 83 (+13) and 79 (+9) for a 162 (+22). He led the Wildcats with three birdies, all coming in the first round.
Ryan Heenan moved up six spots to finish in 49th overall, posting rounds of 83 (+13) and 80 (+10) for a 163 (+23). He had 17 pars in his two rounds this week.
Sebastian Ramos finished 54th overall with rounds of 81 (+11) and 84 (+14) for a 165 (+25). He had a birdie in each round, posting 12 pars on the week.
Josh Freeman only had his second round score count for the Wildcats, shooting a 79 (+9). He had a birdie on the par four 17th, finishing with seven pars as well.
West Chester's William Hilton won the tournament with rounds of 72 (+2) and 72 (+2) for a 144 (+4). St. Thomas Aquinas' Conor McKenna was second overall with a 145 (+5).
The Wildcats now have a month to prepare for the 2026 NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional beginning on Thursday, May 7. The Wildcats will head to Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, for the three-day, three-round postseason tournament.
