POMONA, N.Y. - - Sophomore Josh Freeman tied atop the leaderboard as the Wilmington University golf team closed out its 2025-26 regular season with a third-place finish at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spart Shootout on Monday and Tuesday at the Phillip J. Rotella Memorial Golf Course.
The Wildcats shot rounds of 300(+12), 293 (+5) and 301 (+13) to finish in third place overall with an 894 (+30) in the two-day, three-round tournament. Post won the tournament with an 881 (+17).
Josh Freeman led the Wildcats by finishing in a three-way tie for first place. He posted scores of 72 (E), 68 (-4), and 78 (+6) for a 218 (+2). St. Thomas Aquinas' Diego Ocasio shot a 68 (-4) and Post's Phillip Granum shot a 70 (-2) on Tuesday to catch Freeman down the stretch. Freeman had three birdies in the first round before shooting six birdies with only two bogeys in the second round on Monday. Freeman made the turn at even par on Tuesday, but shot a 43 on the back nine to come back to the rest of the leaderboard.
Noah Wallace finished in a tie for fourth place overall, shooting round of 76 (+4), 71 (-1), and 72 (E), for a 219 (+3), just one stroke off the lead. Wallace had three birdies and three bogeys on the back nine of his first round and then carried that into his second round with three birdies and two bogeys for a 71 (-1). He had three birdies and was one-under with three holes to play in round three, but finished with a 72, even par round.
Freshman Sebastian Ramos finished in a tie for 10th in the regular season finale, shooting round of 76 (+4), 72 (E), and 77 (+5) for a 225 (+9). He had nine birdies in the tournament, four coming in the second round alone.
James DeRocini finished in 28th place with rounds of 78 (+6) and 85 (+13) on Monday before finishing strong with a 74 (+2) on Tuesday. He finished with six birdies on the tournament, two in each round. He was second on the team in Tuesday's round, finishing with two birdies, four bogeys, and 12 pars.
Will Finnerty round out the Wildcats on the course, finishing in 32nd overall with rounds of 76 (+4), 82 (+10), and 83 (+11) for a 241 (+25). He collected three birdies int eh tournament, two coming in his second round.
The Wildcats have the CACC's automatic qualification into the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament but await to hear their seed on Sunday. The Super Regional Tournament will hosted at the Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, starting on Thursday, May 7.
