Noah Wallace Shoots Even Par As Golfers Sit in 7th Place After First Round of Super Regional Tournament

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - - The Wilmington University golf team shot a 293 (+13) in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional Tournament on Thursday, sitting in a tie for seventh out of 20 teams at the Sunnehanna Country Club.

The Wildcats are eight strokes off the lead and just four strokes out of third place after the opening round. Gannon currently leads the Super Regional with a 285 (+5) with two rounds remaining.

The Wildcats are led by Noah Wallace who is in a tie for sixth place after an opening round 70 (E) on Thursday. His day started and ended with birdies, adding another on the par three fifth. He was one-over at the turn and then had eight straight pars on the back until birdieing the par four 18th to close out his round.

Josh Freeman is in a tie for 18th overall with a 72 (+2) on Thursday. He had a slow start with back-to-back bogeys, but a birdie on the par three fifth brought his back to one-over. Freeman was three-over at the turn and then had birdies on the par three 10th and par five 15th on the back, to finish one-under on the back nine.

Sebastian Ramos is in a tie for 30th overall with a 73 (+3) in the first round. Ramos had a birdie on the par four fourth and finished with 13 pars, a birdie, and four bogeys in his round.

Will Finnerty was the final scorer for the Wildcats on Thursday, shooting a 78 (+8) to sit in a tie for 85th overall. His round consisted of 10 pars and eight bogeys.

James DeRocini rounded out the Wildcats on the course with an 83 (+13), sitting in 102nd place overall. He had one birdie on Thursday, coming on the par four second.

Bentley's Jack Kantowski and Gannon's Rasmus Seppanen lead the group after the first round with a pair of 67 (-3)'s.

The Wildcats have the late tee-off time in round two, beginning at 10:50 a.m. on Friday morning.
