Connor Widmer, Andrew Dzubak, and Men’s Lacrosse Team Mentioned in USILA Preseason Accolades

NEWARK, Del. - - Coming off its first NCAA Division II North Region Tournament appearance, the Wilmington University men's lacrosse team will start the 2026 season with momentum, receiving votes in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Preseason National Poll.

In addition to the team being recognized, a pair of student-athletes were named USILA Preseason All-Americans, anchored by senior face-off specialist Connor Widmer earning a Second Team nod. Reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the year Andrew Dzubak was also named a Third Team Preseason All-American as well.

The Wildcats went 11-5 last year, earning their first at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. They went 8-0 in CACC play for the second year in a row before falling in the CACC Tournament Championship. They received 10 points in the Preseason National Poll to finish outside the Top 20, with Georgian Court (three points) as the only other CACC Team mentioned.

Connor Widmer won over 66 percent of his face-offs last year, going 183-for-277. He also had 83 ground balls, a caused turnover, and an assist in his junior year. He was an Honorable Mention All-American last season.

Andrew Dzubak was the CACC Player of the Year, scoring 54 goals while adding 28 assists for 82 points in 2025. He had a season-high 12 goals and five assists for 12 points against Caldwell last year, adding a nine-point performance at Bridgeport. He was also an Honorable Mention All-American last season.

The Wildcats begin the 2026 season on Wednesday, February 11, at American International. They then open their home slate on Saturday, February 14, against Barton.
