Julian Businsky Named CACC Defensive Player of the Week After 2-0 Record

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Julian Businsky anchored the defense during the Wilmington University men's lacrosse team's 2-0 week, leading to being named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The Wildcats moved to 5-3 on the year, staying perfect in CACC play, 3-0, with an 18-4 win over Georgian Court and a 10-7 victory at Post on Saturday.

Julian Businsky (Bel Air, Md.) led the defensive stand with six caused turnovers and 10 ground balls in the two games last week. He is now tied atop the team lead with 14 caused turnovers on the year and tied atop the team among those not involved with the face-off with 22 ground balls on the season.

Last week, Businsky and the Wildcats only allowed four goals against defending CACC Tournament Champion Georgian Court. He led his defensive unit with three caused turnovers and six ground balls in the 18-4 win. He then anchored the defense that only allowed seven goals on the road at Post, causing three more turnovers to go with four ground balls in the 10-7 comeback win.

Teammate Andrew Dzubak was named to the CACC Honor Roll after scoring nine goals with an assist in the two wins. On the women's side, Tristan Holdsworth was named to her sport's Honor Roll after scoring four goals with five assists against D'Youville.

On the diamonds, baseball's Chase Fleming was named to the baseball weekly Honor Roll after collecting 13 RBI in a 3-2 week for the Wildcats. Softball's Addison Sabo was named to the weekly Honor Roll after hitting 6-for-14 in four games.

At the alley, bowling's Genna Closs closed out her final regular season tournament of her career with a sixth-place finish, earning a spot on the weekly Honor Roll in her sport as well.

Julian Businsky and the men's lacrosse team square off against Frostburg State on Wednesday night on the campus of Johns Hopkins and then return home on Saturday to take on Chestnut Hill.
