NEWARK, Del. - - It was less suspenseful than last year's NCAA Selection Show, as the Wilmington University men's lacrosse team already knew it was in, but for the second straight year, the Wildcats heard their named selected for the NCAA DII North Region Tournament on Sunday night.
The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Champions earned the conference's automatic qualification into the NCAA Tournament but just needed to hear where they landed and who their playing.
The No. 8 Wildcats start their postseason journey with No. 1 Adelphi, winners of back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championships. They will head to Garden City, New York, to take on the Panthers on Sunday, May 10, for a 1:00 p.m. start at Motamed Field.
The No. 1 ranked team in the USILA Division II National Poll, the Panthers won the NE10 Regular Season and NE10 Tournament Championships, defeating Pace, 17-4, on Saturday. They are a perfect 16-0 heading into the NCAA Tournament.
The Wildcats are coming off their third straight CACC Regular Season Championship and first ever CACC Tournament Championship, defeating Chestnut Hill, 9-5.
