NEWARK, Del. - - Senior captain Joe Woodley has been named to the 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District I Men's Soccer Team for his work on the field and in the classroom throughout his career with Wilmington University.

Woodley (Gloucestershire, England) has anchored the defense during his tenure as a Wildcat, including being named team captain the past two seasons. His work as the center back has helped the team to eight shutouts this season, as he and the defense carries a 0.75 goals against average into the 2015 postseason.

The Wildcats captured the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Regular Season Championship on Thursday with a 7-0 victory over Georgian Court, securing the top seed in the upcoming CACC Tournament. Woodley scored his first collegiate goal in the victory, finishing on the back end of a free kick from Geoff Velasquez.

Woodley has led the Wildcats to as high as the number three team in the NSCAA East Regional Rankings and No. 22 in the NSCAA National Poll this season. The Wildcats are currently sixth in the latest NCAA East Regional Rankings and need to be one of the top six teams in that poll at year's end to be selected to the NCAA Tournament.

The Wildcats begin their postseason run on Monday when they host the eighth seed in the First Round of the CACC Tournament at the WU Athletics Complex.

Woodley and the rest of the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-District I Team are automatically nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-American Team. First, second, and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
