NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University men's soccer team slipped to No. 23 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Men's National Poll, ranking No. 3 in the East Region in the fourth poll of the year.
The Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday, but still stand at 5-1-3 overall and 1-1-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference after yesterday's tie with Jefferson.
The Wildcats dropped a spot in the East Region to No. 3 this week. Southern New Hampshire remains at No. 1 in the Region while Post jumped four spots to No. 2 this week. Bentley (4) and Franklin Pierce (5) remained the same from last week while Queens enters the scene at No. 6 this week. Saint Michael's jumped up three spots to No. 7 followed by Adelphi, Roberts Wesleyan, and newcomer Bridgeport at No. 10.
In the National Poll, the Wildcats stand at No. 23, sandwiched between Florida Tech and Flagler. Lynn University remains at No. 1 in the country while East Region foes Southern New Hampshire (3) and Post (14) are in the Top 25 as well. Bentley and Queens also received votes in the National Poll this week.
The Wildcats are off this weekend and return to action next Wednesday, traveling to Mercy on October 8.
