NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Wilmington University men's soccer and women's tennis teams each garnered a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week on Monday.
The men's soccer team remains in the national spotlight by being nationally ranked, being led by the CACC Player of the Week Theo Faillon and the CACC Goalkeeper of the Week Emil Lollike. The women's tennis team is shaping up for another CACC Tournament run, led by the CACC Co-Player of the Week Siana MacDonald and CACC Rookie of the Week Elena Camacho.
Theo Faillon (Allinges, France) paced the Wildcats to a 1-0-1 week last week, scoring his second career hat trick. He scored three goals in a 5-0 win at Mercy, bringing his season total to eight goals. He had 11 shots last week, getting off five shots at #13 Post, with three going on frame.
Emil Lollike (Vallensbæk Strand, Denmark) anchored the defense in the 1-0-1 week, picking up a season's high 11 saves to record his third shutout of the season at Mercy. He then made two saves at #13 Post, including one off a free kick with four minutes to play to keep the tie intact.
On the tennis court, the Wildcats went 2-0 last week, with the third match suspended and pushed to Monday past the nomination deadline. Siana MacDonald (Novina, Singapore) was named the CACC Co-Player of the Week, going 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 1-1 at No. 2 doubles. In a 6-1 win over Goldey-Beacom, MacDonald won at No. 1, 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), and 7-6 (7-5). She then won in straight sets at No. 1 against Post, 6-1 and 6-3. She also teamed up with Ines Oliveira at No. 2 doubles to beat the Eagles, 6-0.
Elena Camacho (Madrid, Spain), went a perfect 4-0 last week, helping the Wildcats to a 2-0 week. She came back from a set down at No. 4 singles against Goldey-Beacom, winning 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, and 6-3. She then won at No. 4 singles against Post, 6-2 and 6-0. She teamed up with Gloria Barcaro to win at No. 3 doubles against Goldey-Beacom and Liza Sylka to win at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, against Post.
Men's soccer's Mylan Le Baut was named to the Weekly Honor Roll after assisting on the goal at Post and volleyball's Karla Nunez-Rivera earned a spot on her sport's Weekly Honor Roll as well.
