Theo Faillon Repeats as CACC Men’s Soccer Player of the Year; Leads Five on All-CACC Teams

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - For the first time in program history, the Wilmington University men's soccer program has a two-time and back-to-back Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Year, as Theo Faillon leads a group of five Wildcats named All-Conference by the league's 11 head coaches on Thursday.

Theo Faillon (Allinges, France) is the sixth CACC Player of the Year for the Wildcats, joining Winner Okorie in 2001 Sargbah Tarpeh in 2009, Clifford Nwechefom in 2015, Lorne Bickley in 2019, and himself in 2024.

Faillon was also named First Team All-CACC, leading a pack of five Wildcats named All-Conference. Fellow forward Michiharu Takanashi was named First Team All-CACC with Faillon while Tyrese Small, Alex Tarway, and Isaak Simic were named Second Team All-CACC.

Theo Faillon leads the CACC and is second in NCAA Division II with 14 goals this year, adding five assists for a CACC leading 33 points, ranking second in the NCAA Division II as well. He recorded a hat trick at Mercy and also had five points against Chestnut Hill with a goal and three assists. He recorded at least one point in all but four of the 17 games he played in.

The reigning CACC Rookie of the Year, Michiharu Takanashi (Ota City, Japan) was the only other Wildcat to earn First Team All-CACC. He is tied for second in the CACC with nine goals, ranking third overall in the conference with 22 points. He had a season high five points with two goals and an assist against St. Thomas Aquinas while also scoring two goals at Mercy. He scored the game-winner in double overtime against Felician in the CACC Tournament First Round game.

Tyrese Small (Kingston, Jamaica) anchored the midfield as the holding defensive midfielder, starting all 19 games this year. He also got in the mix offensively, scoring two goals while adding four assists for eight points. He scored goals at Dominican and against Felician in the CACC Tournament First Round and assists against AIC, St. Thomas Auinas, Mercy, and Southern New Hampshire.

Alex Tarway (Monrovia, Liberia) finished third on the team with 19 points, leading the midfielders with seven goals and five assists while playing in all 19 games with 18 starts. His seven goals are tied for seventh in the CACC while his 19 points is tied for fifth in the conference. He had a season high four points against Chestnut Hill with a goal and two assists. He also had a goal and an assist against St. Thomas Aquinas.

Isaak Simic (Beloeil, Quebec, Canada) started all 19 games as the left back for the Wildcats in his freshman season. He also got in on the scoring side of the ball this year, scoring a goal and adding two assists. He scored his first collegiate career goal at home against Georgian Court, adding his first career assist that game as well for three points. he also added an assist against Chestnut Hill.

Bridgeport's Kristians Prieditis was voted the CACC Rookie of the Year while his teammate Bruno Cakurs was voted as the CACC Defensive Player of the Year. Their coach was picked as the CACC Coach of the Year after a second place finish as well. Post's Leopold Dufaut was named the CACC Goalkeeper of the Year by virtue of being the First Team goalkeeper.

The Wildcats will wait to hear their name called on the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Selection Show on Monday night. The show will air on NCAA.com starting at 7:00 p.m.
