NEW CASTLE, DE -- Wilmington University Softball Coach Erin Harvey and her staff are pleased to announce that Kristin Garvin from Pennsville Memorial High School, has signed an NCAA National Letter of Intent to play softball for the Wildcats during the 2008-2009 season.
Garvin, an outfielder and pitcher from Pennsville, New Jersey, was a former All Tri-County, All Salem County, All Courier Post, and All-State selection for the Eagles of Pennsville. Through her first three seasons, she has amassed a career batting average of .408, while totaling 11 homeruns and 93 runs batted in. On the mound, Kristin has a 38-9 record with a 1.29 earned run average, notching 239 strikeouts in 292 innings. She is also a member of the New Jersey Outlaws 18& Under travel ball team.
"We are ecstatic to have to have Kristin decide to continue her scholastic softball career at Wilmington University", stated Coach Harvey. "Her game is multi-faceted, in that she can help us in so many ways. Kristin swings a great bat, plays all three outfield positions, and can also pitch if called upon. I look forward to the impact she will have on the program, as we expect her to make an immediate contribution."
Garvin joins a Wildcat squad that completed one of the most successful seasons at the University over the past decade. One of the most improved teams in all of Division II, Wilmington completed the 2007 campaign with a 31-15 record (16-6 in the CACC).
Wilmington University is an NCAA Division II institution located in New Castle, Delaware, that competes in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The Conference is comprised of 13 schools throughout Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut.
