Softball's Amanda Cordrey and Katie Warrington Named to the ESPN Academic All-District Softball First Team

Wilmington University is pleased to announce that softball standouts Amanda Cordrey (Sussex Central HS/Millsboro, DE) and Katie Warrington (Red Lion Christian Academy/Townsend, DE) have been named to the ESPN Academic All-District Softball First Team. The teams were voted on by the district's members of CO-SIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

Cordrey, a senior designated player, earned the honors for the second time in her career.  She was a First Team selection last year as well.  Cordrey finished second on the Wildcats in hitting (.301), while leading the squad in doubles (nine) and RBIs (25).  She recorded 10 multiple-hit games, and had eight multi-RBI games.

Warrington, a sophomore pitcher, was a first-time honoree in her first year with the Wildcats.  The CACC Pitcher of the Year, she was a First-Team All-Conference selection after going 15-9 with a 0.96 earned run average.  She led the CACC in ERA, strikeouts (230), strikeouts/7 innings (9.60), fewest hits/7 innings (4.22) and opponents' batting average (.170).  She was ranked among the NCAA Division II leaders in ERA, strikeouts/7 innings, fewest hits/7 innings, and fewest walks/7 innings (0.79).  Warrington set single-season Wilmington records in strikeouts, strikeouts per seven innings, ERA, saves, and shutouts.

Cordrey and Warrington were two of four members of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference to be honored.  This duo helped lead the Wildcats to a 29-19 record, including a 17-9 mark in the CACC.  Wilmington finished both the regular season and the post-season fourth in the conference.
