NEWARK, Del. - - Coming off a DIAA State Championship at the end of the spring season, Polytech High School standout Whitney DeMora has signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period to continue her education and playing days for the Wilmington University softball team.
The junior catcher led her team to the fourth seed for the DIAA State Tournament and defeated third seeded Caravel, 20-0 in the Stat Championship for the school's first ever softball State title. DeMora hit a double and a solo home run in the championship game.
DeMora was named Third Team All-State as a junior, as selected by the Delaware Interscholastic Softball Coaches Association. She will join the Wildcats for the 2016-17 academic school year, after finishing out her senior season at Polytech High School this year.
Outside of Polytech, DeMora currently plays for the Severna Park Green Hornets travel team. She helped the Delaware Express 14U team to a fifth place finish at the USSSA Nationals in 2012.
The Wildcats reached their second consecutive NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament this past spring, going 34-18 overall.
