LAKEWOOD, N.J. - - The tension in the room wasn't to see if the Wilmington University softball team was going to make the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament, this year it was to determine who and where the team was going to play as the Wildcats sat and watching the NCAA Selection Show.
Being the 2016 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Champions, the Wildcats knew they were already selected to participate in the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament for the third year in a row as the CACC's automatic bid.
The Wildcats found out they were chosen as the NCAA Division II East Region's No. 8 seed, squaring off against common CACC foe and the East Region's top seed Caldwell. Fourth seeded Southern New Hampshire and fifth seeded Le Moyne round out the East 1 Regional bracket, which will be played at Georgian Court University starting on Thursday, May 5.
The East 2 Regional Bracket features No. 2 LIU Post playing No. 7 Molloy, and No. 3 Adelphi playing No. 6 Pace. Adelphi is the host for the second double elimination bracket.
The Wildcats and Cougars will square off in the first game of the tournament on Thursday, playing at 12:00 p.m. on Field 1 at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J.
