NEWARK, Del. - - The NCAA National Softball Committee announced the seedings for the upcoming 2024 NCAA DII Softball Championships and the Wilmington University softball team is seeded third overall among the eight teams at the final site. The Wildcats will face No. 6 Western Washington in the opening round on Sunday, May 19.
The Championships will be held at the Boombah-Soldiers Creek Park facility in Longwood, Florida. The Wildcats will play the final game of the opening round on Sunday, scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start against Western Washington.
It is the second consecutive year (and second overall) the Wildcats are appearing in the NCAA DII Softball Championships while Western Washington makes their first trip to the National Tournament since becoming an NCAA program in 1999. Western Washington is the first team from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) to advance to the National Tournament.
