NEW CASTLE, Del. - - The Wilmington University softball program, led by back-to-back NCAA East Super Regional Champion head coach Mike Shehorn, has announced that registration for its Camps at Asbury Field in August is now live.
The camp is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, and will be split into two sessions: Infield/Outfield, and Pitchers/Catchers. Each session includes hitting as well. Coach Shehorn welcomes all girls in grades 8-12 on Saturday, August 10 at Asbury Field.
The first session will be the Infield/Outfield group, being held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Pitchers/Catchers session will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants CAN register for both sessions and receive a $20 discount for registering for both. The cost of each camp is $110, with a discount of $200 if attending both sessions.
Registration and payment can be completed online at https://wildcats.athletics.wilmu.edu/camps/camps-list.
The clinics are for softball players who are looking to play at the next level. This clinic will be run with high energy and is intended for those who have some playing experience at the travel ball or high school level.
Participants will get an inside look at how the Wilmington University softball program practices daily. The coaches will work with campers on advanced defensive drills, including glovework, footwork, and position play. Campers will also get instruction on hitting, slapping, and bunting with a focus on the proper fundamentals of each offensive area.
All participants are required to bring their own softball equipment. Players should bring a glove, bat, running or turf shoes, hat/visor, and any other equipment they feel necessary to compete. Catchers must bring their own gear.
