BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - - Kylee Gunkel and Kasey Xenidis combined for a no-hitter in game two as the Wilmington University softball team picked up a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference sweep at Bloomfield, 10-0 and 11-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Clark's Pond South.
GAME 1:
A seven-run second inning separated the Wildcats in the opener on Tuesday, leading to a 10-0 victory in five innings.
Delani Sheehan and Karen Sickle combined for the three-hit shutout, striking out five while only allowing one walk.
Bella Barnes started the scoring with a two-out double to left center in the top of the first. Eve Serrato started the second inning with a solo homer and then back-to-back RBI doubles from Kylie Saienni and Tristyn Stewart gave the Wildcats a 4-0 lead. Sydney Hatch hit an RBI single in the inning and Gracie Mabrey brought in a run with a bases loaded walk, pushing the Wildcats' lead out to 8-0.
Stewart started the third with a double and quickly came home as Cassidy Zelano tripled. Haley Grygo capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly, giving the Wildcats a 10-0 lead.
Tristyn Stewart led the Wildcats by going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs, and an RBI. Eve Serrato went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI while Sydney Hatch went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Bella Barnes finished with two RBI as well.
GAME 2:
Kylee Gunkel and Kasey Xenidis combined for a no-hitter, striking out six while only allowing four walks in the shutout victory. Gunkel went the first three innings, striking out five batters while walking four. Xenidis went the final two innings, striking out one while only allowing one base runner on an error.
Sydney Hatch doubled to start the second and Emma Zimmerman opened the scoring with an RBI single. Delani Sheehan singled in Zimmerman and then a run was forced home when Zelano was hit by a pitch. Haley Grygo picked up an RBI on a groundout, giving the Wildcats a 4-0 lead in the second.
Gracie Mabry started a five-run third inning with an RBI single before Zelano and Grygo brought in runs as well. Bella Barnes hit a two-run single to center to cap the inning, giving the Wildcats a 9-0 lead.
Cassidy Zelano was in the mix again in the fourth, knocking in a run with a fielder's choice. Haley Grygo added another RBI with a single to give the Wildcats an 11-0 lead.
Cassidy Zelano and Haley Grygo led the Wildcats with three RBI each while Stewart, Hatch, Zimmerman, Mabrey, and Sheehan all had two hits in the win.

The Wildcats look to carry the momentum of the sweep on Tuesday into their doubleheader on Wednesday. It is their final regular season home date of the season, as they welcome Chestnut Hill to Asbury Field for a twinbill. The first pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
