NEWARK, Del. - - The NCAA Softball Committee has announced its 20205 Division II Regional Brackets, and the Wilmington University softball team learned it's the No. 2 seed and will head to Goldey-Beacom to compete in the East Region 2 Bracket beginning Thursday.
The Wildcats will face No. 7 Southern New Hampshire in the first round on Thursday in the first game of the day beginning at 11:00 a.m. The East Region 2 bracket will be hosted by No. 3 Goldey-Beacom at the Jackson Athletics Complex in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Wildcats are a part of three teams from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference that made the East Regional Tournament, with all three being in the East Region 2 Bracket. No. 2 Wilmington will be joined by No. 3 Goldey-Beacom, and No. 6 Bridgeport. No. 7 Southern New Hampshire rounds out the four-team bracket.
The East Region 1 Bracket features the top seed and host Pace, No. 4 Bentley, No. 5 St. Thomas Aquinas, and No. 8 D'Youville.
The Wildcats won their sixth CACC Tournament Championship on Saturday to earn the conference's automatic bid into this year's regional tournament. This is the Wildcats ninth appearance in the Regional Tournament, fourth in a row.
The two advancing teams from the East Region brackets will play in a Super Regional best-of-three series. The winner of the Super Regional series will advance to the NCAA DII Softball Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
