Addison Sabo and Maddie Vollmar Named to Softball’s All-CACC First Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - A pair of outfielders were recognized as two of the best in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference as the Wilmington University's softball team's Addison Sabo and Maddie Vollmar have been named First Team All-CACC.

In a vote of the league's head coaches, Addison Sabo (Bethlehem, Pa.) was named a First Team outfielder while Maddie Vollmar (Thornton, Colo.) was named a First Team Utility-Pitcher.

Addison Sabo enters the double-elimination portion of the CACC Tournament ranked sixth in the CACC with a .390 batting average. She carries a .390/.438/.525 slash line with a .963 OPS as a true freshman. She leads the Wildcats with 46 hits, 28 runs, and 12 stolen bases and is second on the team with 24 RBI and eight doubles on the year. Sabo's turned it on the second half of the year, batting .429 with a team leading 24 hits and 14 RBI since the start of April. Both of her homers have come down the stretch as well, first in the regular season finale at Chestnut Hill and in the CACC Tournament First Round clinching game against Holy Family.

Maddie Vollmar repeats as a First Team honoree, last year as an outfielder and this year as a utility-pitcher. The sophomore is second in the CACC with a .738 slugging percentage and third overall with a. 1.154 OPS , ranked 14th in the league with a .359 batting average. She leads the CACC with seven triples and leads the team with 28 RBI and 10 doubles. She's also pitched 90.2 innings this year, striking out 62 batters in 22 appearances. She's also turned it around since the start of April in the circle and is 4-3 with a 3.74 ERA in the second half of the season.

Bridgeport's Mya Jones was named the CACC Player of the Year while Caldwell's Haleigh Fisher was voted the CACC Pitcher of the Year. Felician's freshman Karina De La Vega was named the CACC Rookie of the Year while Post's skipper Tracey Garafalo was voted the Athletic Solutions Coach of the Year. Dominican rounds out the Major Award winners with the Team Sportsmanship Award.

The fifth-seeded Wildcats defeated fourth-seeded Holy Family to advance to the double-elimination portion of the CACC Tournament and will take on top seeded Caldwell on Thursday. The first pitch at Asbury Field is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
