Track and Field Concludes Indoor Season at the Widener Indoor Classic

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The jumpers shined at the Widener Indoor Classic on Saturday at the Ott Center, leading the Wilmington University track and field teams in their final indoor meet before moving outside.

Donte Dockery and Rob Powell led the Wildcats on Saturday, with Dockery winning another triple jump event while Rob Powell jumped to a fourth-place finish in the long jump.

Donte Dockery, the NCAA Division II leader in the triple jump in the indoor season, beat the competition by more than a meter, finishing with a day's best 15.69 meters. Johns Hopkins' Oluwademilade Adeniran finished second with a jump of 14.42 meters.

Rob Powell jumped to a mark of 6.87 meters in the long jump, finishing fourth overall. NCAA Division I Lehigh's Jaden Ferguson won the event with a mark of 7.11 meters.

Sam Distler finished 19th in the shot put with a distance of 13.39 meters while Christian Dollard placed 38th overall with a mark of 11.74 meters. Dollard also placed in the weight throw, finishing 44th overall with a mark of 11.32 meters.

On the track, Rayhan Issah set a new indoor personal record in the 60-meter race, finishing 22nd overall with a time of 7.14 seconds. Brandley Spencer also set a new indoor personal record in the 200-meter event, placing 48th overall with a time of 23.83 seconds.

On the women's side, Deja Curry set a new indoor personal record with a 8.16 second sprint in the 60-meter dash, placing 20th overall on Saturday. She also finished 40th in the 200-meter race with a time of 27.32 seconds and 24th in the 400-meter race with a time of 1:01.34.

In the pit, Sytieia Brown led the Wildcats with a 10th place finish in the weight throw, hurling it 13.91 meters. She also finished 13th in the shot put with a day's best 11.47 meters. Jada Obegi placed 14th in the shot put with a distance of 11.36 meters while placing 25th overall in the weight throw with a mark of 12.15 meters.

The Wildcats turn to the 2025 outdoor track season, starting with the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina starting on Friday, March 14.
