Sytieia Brown and TJ Taiwo Named CACC Track & Field Rookies of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - A pair of freshmen shined for the Wilmington University track and field teams over the weekend, each being named a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

For the third week in a row, Sytieia Brown (Baltimore, Md.) was named the CACC Women's Field Rookie of the Week after impressing in the throws at the Delaware Invitational on Friday. She broke another school record, this time in the hammer throw with a distance of 50.03 meters to finish third overall. Her new mark was nearly 7.5 meters past the old school record and is tops in the East Region in 2025. She also placed third overall in the shot put with a day's best toss of 11.71 meters.

TJ Taiwo (Haymarket, Va.) set a new personal record in the 110-meter hurdles with a 15.02 at the Delaware Invitational, finishing sixth overall out of 19 sprinters. He is now second in the CACC and sixth in the East Region in the event. He also ran the second leg of the 4x400-meter relay team which finished second overall at the meet in 3:19.35.

Christian Dollard was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after finishing fourth in both the discus and hammer on Friday afternoon.

Brown, Taiwo, and Dollard head to Mount Olive, North Carolina, this weekend to compete in the Trojan Relays hosted by the University of Mount Olive.
