Ella Royer and TJ Taiwo Named CACC Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The spring season continues to roll on and the Wilmington University Wildcats continue to succeed, garnering two more Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

It is the fourth time that women's lacrosse's Ella Royer (Sherwood Park, Alberta) has been named CACC Offensive Player of the Week, and fifth weekly award overall, earning a Co-Player award this week with Dominican's Madelyn Grella. Track and Field's TJ Taiwo repeats as the CACC Men's Track Rookie of the Week after two events at the Trojan Relays.

Ella Royer led the attack with 15 goals and four assists for 19 points in two games, adding 13 draws, five caused turnovers, and six ground balls in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats. She scored eight goals while adding two assists against Georgian Court, contributing six draws, three ground balls and two caused turnovers as well. She then recorded seven goals and two assists at Post, adding seven draws, three caused turnovers, and three ground balls as well. After Tuesday's game, Royer currently leads all of NCAA Division II with 102 goals on the season.

TJ Taiwo repeats as the CACC Men's Track Rookie of the Week after setting a school record and two top finishes at the Trojan Relays at the University of Mount Olive. He set a new school record in the 110-meter hurdles, leading the preliminaries with a time of 14.63 seconds. He backed out of the 110-meter hurdles, but his preliminary time was also better than the five finalists. He then competed in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing second overall with a time of 56.10 seconds, crossing the line as the top collegiate competitor. He is now tops in the CACC in the 110-meter event and third in the East Region. He is also now third in the East Region in the 400-meter event as well.

Women's lacrosse's Caitlyn Welker was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after collecting two caused turnovers and five ground balls while leading the Wilmington defense in a 2-0 week. Men's lacrosse's Andrew Dzubak scored four goals and added four assists at Georgian Court to land a spot on the CACC Weekly Honor as well.
