LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - - The Wilmington University track and field team won four events while competing at Lincoln University's Easter Invite on Thursday afternoon inside the LU Athletics Stadium.
The men had three top finishers while the women won one event. Donte Dockery won the triple jump, Sam Distler won the shot put, and Braeden Peterson won the javelin throw. Temi Mustapha won the long jump on the women's side.
Donte Dockery leapt a distance of 15.23 meters in the triple jump, his second best of the season. He beat the field by more than two meters, placing first out of five jumpers. Samir Barber jumped a distance of 12.94 meters to finish third overall.
Sam Distler also had his season's second-best attempt on Thursday in the shot put, winning with a distance of 13.96 meters. Christian Dollard placed second overall with toss of 11.50 meters, as the Wildcats finished first and second overall in a field of 10 throwers.
Braeden Peterson also posted his second-best distance of the outdoor season, winning the javelin with a distance of 38.54 meters. Dollard finished in fifth place overall with a distance of 26.26 meters.
TJ Taiwo finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.10 while Bostwick Patten place third overall in the 400-meter with a time of 50.76. Zach Souders also finished third in the 800-meter race, finishing in 2:05.48.
On the women's side, Temi Mustapha won the long jump in a close race, finishing with a best mark of 4.97 meters. She finished just 1.25 feet ahead of the second place jumper and the field of seven total jumpers. Mustapha also finished second in the 100-meter race with a time of 12.27 seconds.
Eliza Hildreth placed third in the 100-meter race with a time of 12.54 seconds while also finished second overall in the 200-meter event with a time of 26.74 seconds. Deja Curry finished fourth overall in the 100-meter event with a time of 12.89 seconds while also finishing third in the 200-meter race with a time of 27.12 seconds.
Trinity Fortune-Medine finished third in the javelin with her second-best distance of the season, throwing a day's best 24.38 meters.
More of the Wilmington track and field team will compete this weekend, traveling to Widener University for the Paul Donohue Invitational.
