Donte Dockery Wins Triple Jump at Penn Relays; Amy Chomo Sets School Record at TCNJ for Track and Field

EWING, N.J. - - In a final prep prior to the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Track & Field Championships, the Wilmington University track and field teams sent their distance runners to the TCNJ Lions Invitational while Donte Dockery competed at the famed Penn Relays on Saturday.

Donte Dockery went over 15.00 meters in the triple jump once again, winning the College Division championship. With his sixth and final jump, Dockery went 15.04 meters to leap into first place. He was the only jumper to go over 15 meters, beating jumpers from Rutgers, Clemson, Holy Family, and Howard.

The distance team traveled to The College of New Jersey for the Lions Invitational and the Wildcats were highlighted by a school record in the 800-meter race. Amy Chomo set a new mark with a time of 2:21.99, finishing in 18th place with the school record.  She went faster than Yailynn Ramirez's record of 2:23.84 from 2023.

Tiffany Banning finished second in the 5000-meter race with a time of 18:56.43 while Sammy Banning finished sixth overall with a time of 20:56.08. Maddie Minnick was close behind in ninth place with a time of 21:32.31. Angie Chomo also competed in the 800-meter race, finishing 28th overall with a time of 2:31.89.

On the men's side, Trent Taylor led the way with a sixth place finish in the 5000-meter race, finishing in 15:56.26 while Carter Sparwasser finished eighth overall with a time of 16:14.94. Chris Nelson finished 15th overall with a time of 16:49.18 while Joe Volk placed 17th overall with a time of 17:10.06.

Dan Wyshinski ran the 1500-meter in 4:08.26, finishing 15th overall while Zach Souders placed 39th overall in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:03.35. Braeden Peterson threw the javelin to an 18th place finish, finishing with a day's best 38.31 meters.

The Wildcats travel to Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey, for the CACC Championships next weekend, starting with throws finals and the 10000-meter finals on Friday. The bulk of the track event and jumps will take place on Saturday.
