Eight Top 10 Finishes Highlights Track and Field at Alvernia Winter Invitational

READING, Pa. - - Competing for the first time in the 2026 calendar season, the Wilmington University track and field teams were led by eight Top 10 finishes inside the Flynn Plex on Saturday at the Alvernia Winter Invitational.

The men had three Top 10 finishes in relays while the women had three different Top 10 finishers on both the track and the field events.

On the women's side, Kamila Caraballo finished ninth in the 400-meter collegiate finals with a time of 1:04.89. Makeda Lynch finished seventh in the long jump with a distance of 4.78 meters and Ajeana Robinson finished seventh overall in the weight throw with an afternoon's best of 13.24 meters.

The men's team was all over the relays on Saturday, finishing a best of third place in the 4x200-meter relay. The combination of Xavier Bin-Yusif, Jaden Williams, Elijah, and TJ Taiwo ran a time of 1:33.01 for a bronze finish. The 4x800-meter relay team of Kevin Gonzalez, Reggie Hernandez, Julian Rich, and Cooper Schmidt finished fifth overall with a time of 8:48.92 while the combination of TJ Taiwo, Donte Dockery, Xavier Bin-Yusif, and Elijah Gillis placed sixth overall in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:39.40.

Donte Dockery was at it again in the triple jump, finishing second overall with a day's best of 15.24 meters. Only Widener's Matayo McGraw had a better leap, going for 15.32 meters to win the competition. Christian Dollard also finished in the Top 10 for the Wildcats, placing ninth overall in the weight throw with a day's best toss of 14.15 meters.

The winter season continues for the Wildcats in two weeks when they compete at the Schuylkill Showcase starting on January 31 at the Ott Center in Philadelphia, hosted by Widener.
