NEW YORK, N.Y. - - Wilmington University's Donte Dockery climbed up the NCAA Division II ranks in the triple jump while leading the track and field teams at the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Open at The Armory on Friday afternoon.
Donte Dockery was the top collegiate jumper in the field, setting the third-best triple jump of the indoor season in all of NCAA Division II. His first jump landed 15.59 meters, finishing second overall behind Bold Purpose Athletics' Malachi Aiken, who jumped 15.79 meters.
The men had four additional Top 10 finishes on Friday, including the shot put, long jump, 4x400-meter relay, and the 600-meter race.
Sam Distler finished third overall in the college division shot put, using his third throw of 13.93 meters to get on the podium. Rob Powell placed fourth in the college division long jump, with his second jump landing at 6.82 meters. He also had a jump of 6.81 meters on his third jump. The 4x400-meter relay team of Elijah Gillis, Irvin Marable III, Jaden Williams, and Donte Dockery placed seventh overall with a time of 3:31.61, while Irvin Marable III finished eighth overall in the 600-meter even with a time of 1:22.34.
The women were led by a pair of Top 10 finishes by Sytieia Brown in the throws, finishing eighth in the weight throw and ninth in the shot put. In the women's college division, Brown placed eighth in the weight throw with a day's best of 13.79 meters on her first attempt. Competing in the championship division for the shot put, Brown placed ninth overall with a distance of 10.94 meters, getting it done in her fifth attempt.
Ajeana Robinson placed 14th in the college division shot put with a distance of 8.65 meters and 15th in the weight throw with a distance of 11.59 meters.
Kamila Caraballo finished 19th in the 600-meter event with a time of 1:53.12 while Makeda Lynch finished 20th overall in the long jump with a leap of 4.77 meters.
Friday was the final indoor meet of the season for the Wildcats and now look towards the 2026 outdoor season. First year head coach James Williams takes over the program, starting with the outdoor season, with meets beginning in March.
