Wildcats Led by Field Athletes at Morgan State Legacy Meet

BALTIMORE, Md. - - The short track, jumpers, and throwers of the Wilmington University track and field teams competed at the Morgan State Legacy Meet this weekend, as the men earned 20 points and the women eight points in a mix of programs around Baltimore.

NCAA Division I Coppin State won the men's side with 111 points while Towson won the women's meet with 151 points.

Donte Dockery had a season's best jump in the triple jump, winning the event and earning the team 10 points. His leap of 15.67 meters is now the fifth best in NCAA Division II. Washburn's Justin Forde leads Division II with a jump of 16.43 meters this weekend.

In the throws pit, Christian Dollard and Sam Distler gave the Wildcats eight points combined in the hammer throw. Dollard finished fourth with a toss of 44.44 meters, earning five points. Sam Distler had a personal best this year with a toss of 42.72 meters for sixth place and three points.

On the track, Irvin Marable III set a new season's best time in the 400-meter hurdles, getting under a minute for the first time this year. He placed seventh overall with a time of 56.16, earning two points.

Jaden Williams and Xavier Bin-Yusif went under 11 seconds in the 100-meter race for the first time this year, as Williams finished 25th overall in 10.94 and Bin-Yusif 26th in 10.95. Williams also set a new season's best in the 200-meter, finishing 20th overall in 22.09.

On the women's side, the eight points came from the throws pit. Sytieia Brown picked up four points by finishing fifth in the discus, hurling the discus 39.15 meters. Brown also added three points in the shot put with a sixth place finish, ending with a 11.00-meter throw. Aejana Robinson collected the final point for the women in the hammer, placing eighth overall with a 42.80 meter toss.

Kamila Caraballo ran a season's best time in the 200-meter race, finishing 48th overall in 26.81.

The Wildcats will next compete in five events at the famed Penn Relays later this week.
