Track and Field Competes in Four Events at Famed Penn Relays

PHILDELPHIA, Pa. - - Two relay teams and two individuals competed at the famed Penn Relays over the weekend, competing at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

The men's relay teams competed in the 4x200 and 4x400 meter races while Donte Dockery jumped the triple jump and Sytieia Brown competed in the women's discus.

Three of the four events went off on Friday, starting with the College Men's 4x200 Championship of America. Xavier Bin-Yusif started the relay and handed the baton off to Donte Dockery. Irvin Marable II took the third leg before Jaden Williams brought it home for a 15th place finish with a time of 1:27.84. Clemson would go on and win the event with a time of 1:21.52.

Sytieia Brown was up next in the College Women's Discus Throw and she had a day's best 37.49-meter toss on her second attempt. She finished 26th overall. Monmouth's Julie Thomas won the even with her second attempt of 49.00 meters.

The College Men's 4x400 Eastern event went off on Friday night, and the Wildcats finished 15th overall. Elijah Gillis started the relay and then Irvin Marable II and Jaden Williams tackled the middle laps. Josiah Price finished it off for a time of 3:25.27. Salisbury own the event with a time of 3:14.91 as nine teams qualified for the finals on Saturday.

Donte Dockery came back on Saturday for his individual event, competing in the College Men's Triple Jum Championship. The defending Penn Relays Champion had six jumps, but it was his first of the day that ended up being his best. He went for 15.56 meters, finishing third overall. Liberty's Giles Ouedraogo won the event with a distance of 15.96 meters.

The Wildcats now set their sights to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships next weekend. The two-day event will begin on Friday, May 1, hosted by Georgian Court in Lakewood, New Jersey.
