Two Track and Field and Two Men’s Lacrosse Wildcats Named CACC Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The spring season is closing in on crunch time and the Wilmington University student-athletes continue to shine, placing four more on this week's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Reports, with five more being named to the Honor Roll.

A pair of track athletes made their way on the CACC Reports, as Donte Dockery was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week and Angie Chomo was named the Women's Co-Track Athlete of the Week. On the lacrosse field, Julian Businsky was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week while Ian Betts was named Rookie of the Week for their efforts at Holy Family last week.

Track and field's Donte Dockery (Wilmington, Del.) shined at the Penn Relays for the second straight year, jumping his way to a third place finish at the famed event. Competing in the College Men's Triple Jump Championship, completed six jumps, but it was his first that landed him in third place. He went for 15.56 meters for third place.

Angie Chomo (Salem, N.J.) was competing at The College of New Jersey's Rick McCorkle Invite and set a new school record in the one event she competed in. She finished second overall in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:28.08, trailing only NCAA Division I opponent Kristen Sarnicola from Monmouth. She broke the record previously held by Julia Merritt at the 2019 CACC Championships, a week shy of six years.

On the lacrosse field, the top ranked Wildcats defeated Holy Family, 26-11, in their regular season finale for a perfect 8-0 conference record. Julian Businsky (Bel Air, Md.) led the defense with four caused turnovers while adding four ground balls to be named Defensive Player of the Year. Ian Betts (Camden, Del.) set a new season high with seven points, scoring four goals while adding three assists to be named the CACC Rookie of the Week.

Andrew Dzubak had eight points at Holy Family to be named to the Weekly Honor Roll for men's lacrosse as well. Baseball's Dylan Potero, Garrett Quinn, and Brett Walmsley were all named to the Weekly Honor Roll as was women's lacrosse's Ella Royer.
